Electrical Panel Tuneup Service Details
- Check the service size and original date of installation.
- Perform load calculations for the service based on the current electrical usage.
- Tighten main-lugs, inspect for anti-oxidation compound.
- Check for signs of heat cycling on the main lugs, buss bars, and neutral bar.
- Check for rust on the panel housing, in or around the buss bars, and around the circuit breakers.
- Check the condition of the service entrance cable between the meter base and the main electrical panel. Apply insulation tape if needed. (As a temporary patch)
- Tighten terminals in the neutral bar and on the circuit breakers.
- Apply anti-oxidation compound to the neutral bar and circuit breakers where needed. (Does not include main lugs)
- Check for the presence of a whole-house surge protector.
- Provide an estimate for any needed repairs beyond the scope of the tune-up.List Element
